Wow!! See the first black person to win an emmy award for outstanding comedy directing




Donald Glover becomes the first black person to bag an emmy award. Glover won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for “Atlanta”  at the 69th Primetime Emmy Awards at the Microsoft Theater on September 17, 2017.

He beat directors of "Veep" and "Silicon Valley" to bag the award. Receiving the Emmy, Glover thanked fellow "Atalanta" director and producer Hiro Murai for being his best friend and teaching him the art of directing.

"This really beyonds to Hiro Murai. He taught me everything about directing," he said.

"He had the eye for this show and he's just amazing. I really want to give this to Hiro and just say 'I love you and thank you for being my best friend."


 He was also nominated for Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Earnest "Earn" Marks.



"Atalanta" is an American comedy-drama television series about two cousins navigating their way in the Atlanta rap scene in an effort to improve their lives and the lives of their familie".
